You may reach a degree of prayer where your prayer becomes as effective as an action, or rather more effective. Some may say that the highest of all is prayer and action. This is fitting to our naturalistic frame of mind that is of this age. The peak of peaks may simply be a prayer offered to God in holiness and love, a heart given fully, devoted like a wife to a husband or like a child to his mother. Ascend!

It may be that a prayer can change the world more powerfully than acting. If this is wrong, then a loving gesture can change the world as effectively as a prayer for the entire world, or even more effectively.
St. John the Apostle lived a life of contemplative prayer but did not cease acting. Living a life of contemplative prayer is higher than those who act without being in contemplation, a state of praying that is beyond the miraculous.
