The conscience is not a prophet to those of this age, though to those who are one with Christ, it can be renewed as a spring of prophecies as it is in the place of the heart that we commune with God. It is a gift of God as it is our moral sense based on reason or even at times the breath of divine love and inspiration in moments of decision. It can be defiled as it is in itself something like our capacity to think and reason; it is in itself a gift but not moment to moment directly influenced by God apart from his intervention during times of great need or great wrong, or even the discerning of truths for others and oneself. Faith illuminates the mind, it transforms the conscience as well to be of heaven, not of earth. The conscience is prophetic to those who are holy, sanctified, and illuminated in faith by wisdom from heaven. The conscience is the place where every gift of the Spirit originates, the place of communion with God in the soul. Seek it and dig it out of this earth, train yourself to obey it, and you will illuminate the lives of your loved ones. You will shame your enemies by your good conduct and behavior as it is written by St. Peter.
