How much does love require the presence of another person? It requires it as deeply as the nature of God is in Himself. For He in his very being is three and relationality between Father and Son and Holy Spirit. Love without another is not love, and when the other is absent, God is present and brings you to partake in his Triune love and glory, not as an outsider, not only as his child, but as becoming Him himself. This is the teaching of St. Peter, this is the teaching of Christ, when he prays that we may be in the Trinity as the Son is in the Father and the Father is in the Son.
